Older & Junior Dogs

The Second Chapter…

At Morndew, our Labradors are family first. Whether they have spent their youth in the show ring or have been the heart of our breeding program, every dog we raise is handled with devotion.

A common misconception in society is that when a dog "retires" from showing or breeding, they are simply moved on once their "useful life" is over. At Morndew, the reality is the exact opposite. We believe that after years of service and companionship within our kennel, these dogs deserve a "golden period"—a time where they can transition from being part of a pack to being the center of a family’s universe. Rehoming a retired adult is the ultimate act of love; it’s about giving them a sofa of their own, undivided attention, and a life of leisure.

  • While the allure of a baby puppy is undeniable, there is a unique ease and deep connection that comes with an older Labrador. Choosing a Junior (older puppy) or a Retired Adult offers a refined, "turn-key" experience for your home.

  • Our older Labradors have moved past the most demanding stages of puppyhood. The intense days of teething and initial housebreaking are behind them, replaced by a calm, steady temperament. They are the perfect fit for families who lead busy lives or those who desire a companion who already understands the rhythm of a household.

  • When you adopt an older Morndew Lab, what you see is what you get. Their personalities are fully developed and their temperament is proven. Whether they are a social butterfly or a mellow "velcro" dog, we can match their specific soul to your specific lifestyle with total confidence.

  • Our Juniors and Retired dogs have benefited from the high standards of the Morndew environment:

    • Show-Ring Poise: Many of our retired dogs have traveled and competed, meaning they are exceptionally well-socialized, unfazed by new environments, and accustomed to being handled with care.

    • The Morndew Foundation: From walking beautifully on a lead to advanced house manners, these dogs are "ready-to-go" companions who have already been taught the value of calm behavior.

    • Crate & House Trained: Our older dogs have already mastered the art of clean living and are comfortable in their own space, making the transition into your home seamless from day one.

  • By welcoming a retired Morndew dog, you are becoming part of their legacy. You are providing the "happily ever after" to a dog that has spent its life upholding the excellence of the Labrador breed. In return, they offer a level of gratitude and loyalty that is truly unique to an older dog.
